No one wants to move to Mexico without the family pet. After all, is a member of the family too! You can bring your pet or pets with you, but you should do some advanced planning.
If you want to bring your pet to Mexico, you will need two important forms. The first is a vaccination certificate to make sure your pet has been vaccinated against rabies, hepatitis, leptospirosis and nugget. The second is an office health certificate must be issued by a veterinarian no more than 72 hours before entering Mexico.
It can lead to two pets (dog or cat) with you. It is possible to achieve more, but you must obtain permission from the Mexican consulate. You will need to contact the center nearest you. There is no period of quarantine for pets entering Mexico. Be sure to check with airlines, if you’re flying to Mexico. Often airlines have restrictions on size, weight, type of support, etc. Contact your airline and plan ahead.
Owning a pet in Mexico is very similar to owning a pet in any other country. Most dog owners in Mexico have their attention from domestic work for your dog. Rarely will an owner to walk your dog. Make sure your pet’s doctor is aware of your dog’s exercise and feeding schedules. Also make sure your dog is comfortable with your doctor.
Stray dogs and cats are common in Mexico and lead to many diseases. To protect your dog or cat make sure they have the right and the vaccines are administered properly. Also it is important to treat their pets from parasites. Veterinarians abound in Mexico and some even make home visits.
When the dog comes out of Mexico, the same documents are required as they entered. You will need a vaccination certificate and a health certificate from a veterinarian. You also need to obtain an export license to your dog or cat to leave the country. Your pet will undergo a visual inspection and there is no cost for this license.
While the process may seem interminable, is to protect all pets – inside and outside Mexico. For those who never consider moving without your pet, it just requires some advance planning.
